Stay calm. If you have a dental emergency, we are here to help at Madison Dentistry. Give us a call and we would be happy to quickly provide the advice and service that you need!

If your emergency is life threatening, call 911 or go to an emergency room immediately. However, we are happy to work with tooth pain, missing teeth, and broken teeth whenever we can.

Injuries to the teeth and gums can result in infection and other complications. Toothache can be a warning sign of a more serious problem. So whatever your pressing dental need may be, make sure to contact an experienced dentist before the complication progresses!

After You Call

After you call Madison Dentistry for customized advice and an appointment time, there are a few ways you can improve your situation at home.

Pain Medication | For temporary pain relief, we recommend over-the-counter acetaminophen. Be sure to follow the instructions printed on the packaging label. Never take aspirin or ibuprofen, as they are anticoagulants which can cause excessive bleeding.

Reduce Swelling | Keep the swelling down by using a cold compress on the outside of the affected area.

Gently Clean the Teeth | For objects stuck between the teeth or toothache, gently brush, floss, and rinse the mouth with warm water. Do not rinse vigorously or brush aggressively.

Save the Teeth | For broken teeth, save any pieces you may find. For missing teeth, save the tooth in the socket or in milk. Bring the tooth or pieces to the office as soon as possible.

Monitor Bleeding | If bleeding does not stop after 10 minutes of constant, firm pressure, go to the emergency room.
